WHEELS is a volunteer-led car scheme for local people. We aim to be flexible and supportive while focusing on essential journeys.
Who we help
We primarily assist older residents and anyone needing help with transport in Watchet, Williton, Washford and Old Cleeve.
Not-for-profit
Drivers can claim a fixed mileage allowance on a strictly not-for-profit basis. There is no extra charge on driver insurance.
What journeys are eligible?
Health appointments
Hospital and clinic visits where transport is not provided by other services.
Everyday health needs
Trips to the doctor, dentist, optician, chiropodist or exercise class.
Shopping & travel links
Shopping, banking and journeys to Taunton railway or bus station.
Family visits
Visiting relatives and friends, especially the sick.
WHEELS will be as flexible as possible but cannot cover every transport need.
How to book
Know your destination and number of passengers.
Call 07891 821861 to agree pick-up/drop-off points, time, date, cost and any special needs (e.g. Zimmer frame, wheelchair, escort).
The co-ordinator will arrange a suitable car and confirm travel arrangements.
Please have the correct money ready in the envelope provided by the driver. Somerset Travel Pass holders pay half price.

Charges are for return trips even if you only travel one way. Paying passengers travelling together may split the cost between themselves.
